Bloggers who have been regularly writing to their blogs may have already accumulated a long list of posts in their blog archives. In time, these posts become forgotten and very rarely read anymore. However, certain posts in the past may still carry a lot of relevance today. These posts may even hold the key to revitalize the entire blog, or increase blog traffic, or uplift the blogger’s reputation. Here are five useful tips to bring relevant blog content out of retirement:

1. Know when to update.

You shouldn’t update:

– When blog content must stand as an official record or statement, to reflect your state of mind and personality at that particular time in the past.

– When the post is part of a corporate blog, as a corporate document and a piece of history that records your organization’s evolution.

You should update:

– When blog content is inaccurate, or missing some important details not available during the time of initial writing.

– When post is part of an opinion blog, and as long as you are willing to disagree with your own past opinions.

– When links are broken, and no longer directs readers to the sites they initially referred to.

2. Update with care.

– Re-write the original. You can overhaul the post totally, adding more details or subtracting irrelevant ones. But careful that the essence of the post does not disappear after the re-write.

– Append to the original. Add a sub-head titled “Update” after the original post and write your new ideas. You can keep on updating from here on by just appending new time-stamped updates.

– Fix broken links. Perhaps the referenced site is no longer up. Or the affiliate product you were referring to is no longer sold. Updating the links assure the continued usability of your post to readers.

3. Re-post the original. If the blog content is not bound by specific details like time, event or people, you can directly re-post it again. Just be careful that it is still very relevant and current in tone and content, to be of value to current readers.

4. Update-less reinvention. Key blog posts can make use of touch-ups without having to re-write the content altogether. Here are some ways to do this:

– Re-tag. Some tags may sound “old” or no longer relevant to current situations. For example, “SEO” was a common tag then, but today SEO may be broken down to more specific tags such as “social media” or “link-building”.

– Reference in new posts. Create fresh posts that refer to the old post to support the topic or idea. Readers are then directed to the old post when they read the new one.

– Comment. Check the comments section of your post and reply to commenters, to stimulate conversation.

5. Inter-link your blog posts. Spend some time to review your previous posts. Find ways to link related posts with each other. From here on, make it a habit to link your new posts with past ones. Here are the benefits of inter-linking your posts:

– Search engine rankings. Search algorithms favor links in determining ranking. This goes for both external and internal links. Internal links also help search bots index your site and rank it better.

– Usability. Readers get more value from a single post that contains links to other useful or related posts, as a form of suggested or further readings.

– Visibility. Posts gathering dust in your archives are activated when users click on them through links from other posts.

As the blog owner, you can update your blog posts in any way you think best — from making quick fixes to major overhauls. When you do so, just remember that readers should eventually benefit from the changes you made to your blog content.

Internet marketing is a very popular way of conducting business on the internet and why not? It is a very easy way to build a good presence on the internet and use it to make lots of money for yourself. This article contains a few IM advantages that you should understand.

Perhaps the biggest advantage of getting into internet marketing is that the internet does not limit you to a single central geographical location. As long as you can find a market for what you are selling you can go anywhere. When you compare online earning to offline earning the first big difference most people notice is how offline businesses are limited to a single location and then praying that their target market can find it easily. With IM you can promote your products anywhere you want without having to worry about location. Beyond that, the big internet businesses often have a large market that spreads out between countries. Internet marketing is not subject to any sort of hard or fast rules. Your audience is not limited by religion, ethnicity, race or culture. This is how you do pure business without actually seeing the location as a big hurdle. Internet marketing offers you a way to create a business that can grow and reach lots of people even if you do not have a lot of resources for business creation. All you need to have is a strong will to keep reaching farther. Internet marketing will allow you to do just this and to work with different groups of people across the world–something you should be able to do if you want your business to grow.

You can also use the internet to build a solid reputation and make sales as people refer you to others. There are many technologies in place now that give internet users the ability to tell others about your product or website. If you want to build a trusted business that gets more and more exposure, you only have to become known as someone who offers quality service. For this reason, it’s worth the effort to give your prospects and customers the best service you can.

As your reputation grows, you will find that this by itself is enough to expand your business. Your customers have many ways to spread the word about you if they are impressed, such as their own blogs, social networks, product review sites and so forth. This can give you an incredible boost in your traffic and sales. There are many Internet marketers who become online superstars by simply over delivering and giving what their customers wanted.

Unlike a store or office building, the internet never shuts down. How does this affect you? Your customers will never see a “closed” sign on your website, so you’ll never miss anyone. People can be shopping on your website in the middle of the night when you aren’t even awake. The internet frees you from having to be physically present to make sales.

All in all, IM is one of the best and simplest ways to generate a lot of income but only if you understand what you need to do.

If you would like step by step instructions on how to start a online business from home and make money from it then Grab my Free internet marketing step by step guide! I have laid out in this Guide the blue print from start to finish on how you too can build a money making website today!

Many people have asked this question time and time again...What's the deal with Personal Branding  anyway? Is it just an ego trip...you know, all about me, myself and I??

Well actually is all about you with out the ego trip. And you only need to use it if you really plan on becoming SUCCESSFUL in social media marketing

Wikipedia defines it this way

Personal branding is the process whereby people and their careers are marked as brands. The personal branding concept suggests that success comes from self pack- packaging. Further defined as the creation of an asset that pertains to a particular person or individual; this includes but is not limited to the body, clothing, appearance and knowledge contained within, leading to an indelible impression that is uniquely distinguishable.

Simply, Personal Branding is what allows you to create an audience and therefore, build a list of qualified people that are interested in what you have to say and, not only that, waiting for you to let them know what you have to offer. In order to have a valuable Personal Brand, you will want to give a lot of stuff alt

away! Why should I give stuff away?? Good question to ask. If you be a resource of information people will keep coming back for more. Once you have given away information, which has value, you can then ask for something in return... and ONLY then!

The main purpose of Personal Branding is to promote yourself as someone of value that the people you attract come to trust, like and know. This will move you above and beyond your product or service which, therefore, positions you to be able to promote anything of value for the next time.

Did you know that Twitter is one of the many ways to help you or any online marketer to build a large audience or prospect base fast and I mean fast. Where else can you build an audience of 1K to 2K in as little as 40 to 60 days? Talk about fast! alt

Social media is all about having an audience and what better way to get an large audience quick than with Twitter which refers to their audience as followers. If there is on thing Twitter does exceptionaly well I might add, is help you to build an audience of targeted followers and prospects from which you will develop friends, partners and customers.

Unfortunately, there are only limited amount of people that can actually say that they have the blueprint that actually show how to connect Twitter, Facebook and Youtube until now. People who know social media marketing say they couldn't imagine social media marketing without the advantage Twitter furnish by allowing you to direct so many more people so much quicker than Facebook and Youtube.

Twitter is Simple, Quick and Accurate

Speaking of twitter being Simple, Quick and Accurate. Twitter unlike some of the other social media sites takes only a few minutes to set up and get started but is powerful enough to move masses of people from one social media sit to another with 140 characters or less and a click of a button......

Because Twitter is so viral in nature it grows rapid! In fact Twitter is currently doubling in size. Once you know what you're doing it is quite easy to build yourself a large audience of targeted people. And why not make extra money on the side from other advertiser that will pay you just for tweeting their ads; you can do this just buy joining Sponsored Tweets it's free to join plus you get to set your own price.

See you at the Top!

Who else is really tired of all the 'guru' products on the web these days? It seems like everyone has written a course, an ebook or some other product that
                                                                                                                  alt
'guarantees' making you successful. The reality is though, most of these courses are a waste of time and money – but finding which ones are worth while can be really hard work; and all of us have been taken in by a product that ended in disappointment AT LEAST once. AffiloBlueprint however, was not a disappointment.

First off though, let's talk about what AffiloBlueprint actually is. Created by Super-Affiliate Mark Ling and his Affilorama team, AffiloBlueprint claims to be a complete formula for creating successful affiliate sites. In the first release of the course last year, Ling actually used this formula to create a site in front of a live audience – a site that in turn ended up generating $500 per in profit! In this latest release, Ling goes over that same methodology, but with an improved format and more in-depth lessons.

What really is this 'formula'? The whole idea of AffiloBlueprint is that you can create multiple sites, in any viable niche you like, by using the same process over and over again. This means you can create a whole bunch of small $50 per week sites, and then just build up your income by building a whole bunch of sites. Then, as Ling explains, if you reinvest some of that money back into the sites in the form of building content and SEO campaigns, you can very quickly accelerate your earnings into the thousands a week – just by starting with a few $50 a week sites. This is got to be one of the simplest, but yet most believable methods I've seen for creating this level of income through affiliate marketing.

So what is covered in the course? AffiloBlueprint is a 12 week program with 55 video lessons. Starting out with how to find a profitable niche and market research, you're taken through picking keywords, creating content, building a website, search-engine-optimization, creating newsletters, analytics and troubleshooting (the troubleshooting lesson is brilliant!), and pay per click. So as you can see, pretty comprehensive!

One of the only downsides with this product is that, with all the information it has, you could be tempted to rush through or skip parts. Don't do it! Everything in this course is there for a reason, and if you follow it as it is laid out, you will almost certainly be able to make a successful site.

AffiloBlueprint also comes a custom made Wordpress template, so if you haven't made a website before, you can just use a template created by affiliate marketing experts to build your site. It is obvious that Mark Ling has gone to a lot of trouble to make this product as newbie-proof as possible. Everything is really clearly explained and there is no assumption of knowledge, so if you're just starting out, this product if for you. If you do have some experience with affiliate marketing however, you will still find the systematic structure of AffiloBlueprint useful. This could be what you need to build up your income or fix your under-performing sites.

All in all, I highly recommend AffiloBlueprint as one of the best affiliate educational products I've seen. Ling is only making it avaliable for one week so they can offer customer support, so I would get in quick. Visit the AffiloBlueprint website here: http://www.affilorama.com/?aff= Spurlock42

Are you stressed about competition? With almost 200 million websites currently online and climbing every day you could be forgiven for thinking your affiliate site will get crowded out by the competition. But you can still thrive despite competing sites in your niche. How?

It comes back to an old schoolyard principle.

At school if there was ever a chance you might get into a fight, and you were smart, you would check out your potential opponent first. What were your chances of successfully winning or what unique strengths did you have that you could use against them? How you answered those questions would usually determine if you stuck around or made a run for the hills.

Keyword competition bears some semblance to schoolyard battles. There were plenty of potential opponents, and some were obviously bigger and stronger but others you could stand a sporting chance of coming off victorious. You just had to develop the smarts to know how to pick your battles.

Here are 5 ways you can pick your battles when it comes to keyword competition and be successful.

#1 - Identifying the top keyword for your niche

The top keyword phrase for your niche will obviously vary based on what niche you're targeting but the more familiar you get with your niche, you'll soon learn which are the 'buzzwords' that you want to be targeting.

For example, if you're in the weight loss niche, then the phrase “weight loss” is generally going to be a very competitive keyword. Use the Google Keyword tool to identify the phrase with the most competition, in fact it allows you to sort by advertiser competition and search volume.

By knowing which phrases have very high advertiser competition and search volumes you can quickly identify the top phrases in your niche, so you don't jump in the deep end and find yourself struggling to stay afloat. Better to start in the shallows and build up your confidence gradually.

#2 - Number of results in Google

This is a controversial suggestion as it has caused more than a few affiliate marketers to get a bad case of 'analysis paralysis' and we've talked before about how these numbers can potentially be misleading when doing SEO competition analysis. Free down load click here: http://www.traffictravis.com/?aff=Spurlock42

The way to use Google search results is to determine if there is much interest in this phrase. Results under a million generally indicate there is not much of a 'buzz' and the competition was actually too low. Remember you're not trying to avoid competition altogether – a healthy amount of competition is actually important as it indicates there is money to be made with a particular keyword phrase.

You can use the Allintitle and Allinanchor search modifiers to further analyze the results to see how many sites may be trying to optimize for this phrase. For example, you might search on “allinanchor: weight loss” to check how many sites have backlinks that use the anchor text “weight loss”.

Remember these numbers are a guide online. For more discussion on reviewing sites that optimize for a specific phrase go to point 5.

#3 - Number of authority domains ranking highly in the SERPs

A high number of authority domains ranking highly in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) is an indicator of tough competition. Authority domains are generally well-established, have a high PageRank from Google and a lot of backlinks. If you're a brand new site that's just getting started you might find it easier to nail Jell-O to a tree than compete against these guys.

Authority sites include domains such as ezinearticles.com or squidoo.com. These sites will find it easier to rank for a keyword phrase since they have the benefit of an aged domain, a high number of backlinks and a high PageRank, even if they are not overly optimized for the specific keyword phrase you are targeting.

To check your phrase do a Google search and see which sites appear in the top ten results. You'll quickly see if it's a phrase that authority sites are ranking for. If not, you will often have a higher chance of ranking for it yourself. If they are, then you might be better off contributing an article to one of these sites and trying to get that to rank instead.

#4 - Number of words in keyword phrase

This is an easy indicator of how competitive a phrase might be. The more words in the phrase, the less likely it will be competitive. This is because more words indicate a phrase that specifically targets long tail searches, and will have lower search volumes.

For example, a phrase dealing with “bichon frise” (approximately 1,580,000 search results) is very competitive but “stop bichon frise puppy biting” (approximately 41,200 search results) has more words and is more targeted, meaning much less competition.

#5 – Use the SEO Analysis tool in Traffic Travis to check the top 20 results

Traffic Travis is a free SEO analysis tool: click here http://www.traffictravis.com/?aff=Spurlock42 that will allow you to review the top 20 results for a specific keyword phrase. If you haven't done so already, download and install Traffic Travis, click on the SEO Analysis tab and enter a keyword phrase. Traffic Travis will review the top 20 results and give you a detailed analysis of each site, showing what they're doing well and what they haven't optimized for.

You can use this tool in two ways:

You can use it at the start of your keyword research to choose which keywords you want to target. Create a reasonable list of keywords to begin with, and then plug each one into this tool to see what star ranking Traffic Travis gives it. Keywords with a four or five star ranking will be easier to target, and are a good place to start.

Alternatively, if you’ve got your heart set on a particular keyword, you can use this tool to see exactly how strong the competition is. Traffic Travis checks things like the number of backlinks from .edu domains, whether the site is listed in the Yahoo directory, whether the keyword is in the description of the page, and so on. All these things give the site/page real weight in the search engines. At least with this information you have some targets set for yourself: Make sure you’re filling in any blanks that your competition might have left (check those red crosses) and shoot for the sky with your backlinks.

Why it pays to be an Affilorama Premium member…

Affilorama Premium member have a powerful tool at their disposal to help them size up competition the easy way. The Market Strength tool provides you with an approximate estimation of the relevant competitiveness of a keyword, or keyword phrase. It takes into account the factors we've discussed here and combines them all into a single report to help you decide if it's worth tackling a particular phrase.

It also suggests alternatives that might be quicker to rank for, and allows you to drill down into any keyword to learn more about the top ranking sites for that phrase and how well optimized competing sites are.

It's not all about competition

Don't let the competition knock you out of the game! Keyword competition is actually a very complex concept and there are a lot of factors at play. In fact, nobody knows exactly what makes for a competitive site since it's a closely guarded secret of the search engines. However, there are a range of factors that can indicate if a site is a tough competitor or not, but it's more a combination of factors than any one thing.

What you really want to do is focus on page one of Google's search results, the top ten, and aim to topple just one of those sites - ignore the thousands of other sites because they really don't matter!

Hopefully these five points will help you to choose keyword phrases you can rank for successfully. By picking your battles wisely, you can avoid the discouragement of ranking 77th in Google's search results and instead build up organic traffic to your site using well-chosen keyword phrases.

  • What techniques do you use to test how competitive a keyword is?

  • Do you find it overly challenging trying to rank for your keywords or did you get good results in a short space of time?

Alright, so the title sounds extreme but this wayward reference to a popular skating game from the 80s  illustrates the point that backlinks are a vital part of your overall SEO strategy. Without them no amount of on-page search engine optimization will get your site ranking. In fact, some SEO experts claim that about 80% of your ranking is determined by backlinks to your site, and where those backlinks come from.

A little while back we talked about how authority sites were like well-connected people , and this attracted a higher PageRank status from Google. Essentially this highlights the important role that backlinks play in getting your site ranking.   Free Traffic System - Increase Targeted Website Traffic with FreeUnlimited One Way Links

Ok so you know that already but how exactly should you go about implementing your backlinks? Here are some suggestions to make sure you get the most from your backlinks.

It's true that not all backlinks are created equal. Which is why Nike doesn't have Joe Average doing endorsements for them, instead choosing someone well-known, well-liked and, up until a few weeks ago, well-respected to 'vote' for their products. Backlinks are exactly the same. The more well-known or reputable the site that 'votes' for you or links to your web page, the more that link is worth.

Of course your average golf charity event would find it difficult to get someone like Tiger Woods to personally endorse their tournament, but it has been known to happen. On the rare occasions it happens one of the organizers has got very creative, very lucky or both, to secure a personal nod from the man himself. Likewise your chances of Google, Facebook or Amazon linking to your site with a dofollow link are slim.

Don't let this discourage into conceding defeat. Like our parents told us as we grew up through those awkward teenage years and hated looking in the mirror, we need to make the most of what we've got. This means maximizing your backlink opportunities.

Here are 7 ways to maximize your backlinks

  1. Keyword-optimized anchor text - Looking at your keyword list, choose one main keyword phrase you want to rank for. Have 3 closely-related variations of that phrase to use as anchor text. These will become your primary backlinks. There will be situations where you may choose different anchor text based on the page you're linking from – see point 4.

  2. Use a backlink checker - Use a free SEO tool such as Traffic Travis to spy on your competitors and find out where they're getting backlinks from. Chances are they may be a good first option and 'low hanging fruit' in terms of acquiring new backlinks. You can also use the backlink checker available from the Affilorama website.

  3. Search for dofollow blogs by Googling 'CommentLuv blogs'. These blogs allow you to comment on posts and include a valuable backlink to your site.

  4. Backlink in context – Contextual relevancy is another important aspect of link building. When we relate it back to Tiger Woods endorsing Nike products, it's partly built on relevancy. Which is why they don't use Michael Moore, simply because people wouldn't be able to make the connection. Similarly when you backlink from a page about biting Bichons make sure you use appropriate anchor text that matches not only the page you're linking from, but also the page on your site that you are linking to. This adds weight to the backlink's importance.

  5. Avoid overstuffed pages - Avoid getting backlinks on pages with too many links (a page with more than 100 outbound links is too many)

  6. Aim high - Target websites that have a higher PageRank than yours with a minimum PR of 3. The higher the PR, the more valuable the backlink, indicating that your site is relevant and an authority on the topic.

  7. Go for trusted links - Try to get links from education or government sites as these backlinks are generally trusted more by the search engines. Affilorama have recently released the Trusted Site tool! for Affilorama Premium members that will seek out government and education sites that allow you to add backlinks to your site, for any given keyword phrase.

Can backlinks be bad for me?

All this talk of the magical goodness of backlinks might have you thinking they can do no wrong. You might be tempted to go on a backlink blitz, picking up links from anyone and everyone without a care in the world. But whoa there, hold on just one moment. Before you go bananas over backlinks, it must be pointed out that not all backlinks are worth having, in fact there are some that will actually harm your site instead of helping.

We won't go into any detail here but if you want to check out a couple of pointers on what to avoid have a read of the last paragraph in this free SEO lesson on getting backlinks to your website.

So how do you extract maximum value from your backlinks? Have you been enjoying good success with your link building campaigns?
